Chapter 4: Business & Administration
04:56:00 Taking Courses During Working Hours
Tennessee Board of Regents Guideline P-130 outlines provisions for TBR employees taking courses for which the College pays the cost. The guideline states …courses must be scheduled in counsel with supervisors to ensure optimum job performance. Courses should be scheduled at times other than during normal work hours unless make-up time is scheduled.”
Northeast State employees desiring to take a class should schedule the class during a time other than the normal working day, which is 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. inclusive of a one-hour lunch, on Monday through Friday of each week. Employees taking a class during the regularly scheduled workday must take annual leave during the time absent from work. Exceptions must be recommended by the immediate supervisor, the appropriate vice president, and the president.
