Chapter 6: College Committees & Advisory Councils

Purpose: The Academic Affairs Committee shall have the responsibility for all matters pertaining to academic admission and readmission requirements, academic standards, curriculum changes, distance education, and the Library. The Academic Affairs Committee will make recommendations to the president through the vice president for Academic Affairs.

Membership:

  1. Academic Deans
  2. Assistant Vice President for Multi-Campus Programs
  3. Chair of Curriculum Subcommittee
  4. Dean of the Library
  5. Dean of Enrollment Management 
  6. Director of Financial Aid, Ex Officio
  7. Faculty Senate President
  8. Institutional Effectiveness Officer, Ex Officio
  9. Students (2): Designated by the Vice President for Student Affairs
  10. Vice President for Academic Affairs, Chair
  11. Vice President for Student Affairs
  12. Faculty (7)
    1. Faculty (1): Elected by Faculty in the Advanced Technologies Division
    2. Faculty (1): Elected by Faculty in the Behavioral and Social Sciences Division
    3. Faculty (1): Elected by Faculty in the Business Technologies Division
    4. Faculty (1): Elected by Faculty in the Health Professions Division
    5. Faculty (1): Elected by Faculty in the Humanities Division
    6. Faculty (1): Elected by Faculty in the Mathematics Division
    7. Faculty (1): Elected by Faculty in the Science Division

Academic Affairs Subcommittees: Five subcommittees will be established by the Academic Affairs Committee. Members of the subcommittees will be appointed by the vice president for Academic Affairs or elected by the Academic Affairs Committee or by faculty within the eight instructional divisions. The subcommittees will make recommendations directly to the Academic Affairs Committee. These subcommittees are:

  1. Admissions Subcommittee
  2. Curriculum Subcommittee
  3. Distance Education Subcommittee
  4. Grade Appeal Subcommittee
  5. Library Subcommittee

The committee chair shall post a meeting summary on the campus bulletin board and post minutes/actions/plans on the Campus Drive, Committees Folder.
