Chapter 6: College Committees & Advisory Councils

06:20:00   General Education

Purpose: The General Education Committee shall monitor internally all courses within the General Education Program and ensure that the courses satisfy the goals and measurable outcomes for each category established by the TBR General Education requirements. More specifically, the responsibilities of the Committee include:

  • Developing a methodology for evaluating and recommending that courses do satisfy the general education requirements,
  • Recommending courses satisfying the general education requirements,
  • Coordinating with the Curriculum Subcommittee to assure all general education requirements are met for all degree programs,
  • Developing assessment strategies for each category of the general education core requirements, and
  • Assisting the vice president for Academic Affairs with the program assessment of general education by documenting outcomes. 

Membership: The Committee shall represent the faculty as a whole and report directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

  1.  Dean of Advanced Technologies
  2.  Dean of Behavioral and Social Sciences
  3.  Dean of Business Technologies 
  4.  Dean of Health Professions
  5.  Dean of Humanities
  6.  Dean of Mathematics
  7.  Dean of Science

2. Assistant Vice President for Multi-Campus Programs, Ex Officio

3. Dean of the Library, Ex Officio

4. Faculty (8): Appointed by the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Members of the committee shall serve two-year terms.

  1. Faculty (1) in the Advanced Technologies Division
  2. Faculty (1) in the  Behavioral and Social Sciences Division
  3. Faculty (1) in the  Business Technologies Division
  4. Faculty (1) from the Faculty Senate
  5. Faculty (1) in the  Health Professions Division
  6. Faculty (1) in the  Humanities Division
  7. Faculty (1) in the  in the Mathematics Division
  8. Faculty (1) in the  Science Division

5. Institutional Effectiveness Officer, Ex Officio

6. Testing Services Representative, Ex Officio

7. Vice President for Academic Affairs and Academic Dean, Co-chairs

8. Vice President for Student Affairs, Ex Officio

The committee chair shall post a meeting summary on the campus bulletin board and post minutes/actions/plans on the Campus Drive, Committees Folder.
